Staff Biographies

Claudette Bryanston, Co-Artistic DirectorClaudette

Apart from her work in the UK, Claudette has taught on the MFA directing course at Boston University in the US and run workshops in Europe and Mexico. She has been teaching and directing theatre for over twenty-five years and was the course tutor for the TiE module at the University of Warwick. For Classworks she has directed many productions including The Children, Dictation and Gilgamesh. She holds a Fellowship at the University of Warwick, which supports both the creation of new work and research, completing a tour of Inside View funded by an award from The Wellcome Trust.

Jenny Culank, Co-Artistic DirectorJenny

Jenny has worked in both education, TV and theatre and over the past 24 years of Classworks’ history she has directed numerous productions, the most recent being In Limbo, And Then They Came For Me, Farmer Giles of Ham and How Many Miles To Babylon?For the past three years Jenny has been an external assessor for the practical element of the Arts in Education course at Homerton College, Cambridge.

 

Gayle MacGregor, General ManagerGayle

Gayle has been General Manager of Classworks Theatre since 2003 and in that time has produced all of the company’s large scale productions with both the touring theatre company and the youth theatres including managing and raising funds, undertaking marketing and research as well as human resource and financial management.

 

Lucy Crowe, Youth Theatre DirectorLucy

Lucy has worked as a professional actress and dancer since the 1980s having originally started as a member of Classworks Youth Theatre. She has performed as an actress in several of Classworks’ touring productions including Hiawatha and Risky Business, and with Snapshot Theatre devising and running workshops in schools. Lucy also performs as a hip-hop dancer nationwide for clubs, theatres and television with her own company, SIN Cru.

Sue Pearson, Wardbrobe Manager

Sue has worked with local professional and amateur theatre companies, including Classworks for many years. Sue can design and make costumes and props for plays, operas, musicals and pantomimes.  Sue also worked as head dresser for Cambridge Arts Theatre.
